I know we may not be the most tech-savvy bunch, but hear me out – technology can actually bring us closer to our grandkids in ways we never imagined before! In this article, I’m going to share some unique ways you can use technology to connect with your grandchildren and make memories that will last forever.

Who doesn’t love a good cup of tea and a chat with their grandkids? With video conferencing apps like Zoom, FaceTime, and Skype, you can now have virtual tea parties with your grands from the comfort of your own home. You can even teach them how to make the perfect cup of tea – just make sure they don’t spill it on their screens!
2. Online Games
Gone are the days where we have to sit around playing traditional board games with our little ones (although that is the best if you’re close by!). Thanks to the wonders of technology, we can now play online games with them. Whether it’s a game of virtual checkers or an intense game of Mario Kart, online games are a great way to bond with our grandkids and have a little friendly competition.
3. Social Media
If you’re not already on social media, it’s time to join the club! Social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram can help us stay connected with the grandchildren on a daily basis. We can see what they’re up to, share photos and stories, and even leave them cute comments on their posts (just make sure you don’t embarrass them too much!).
4. Storytime
Who doesn’t love a good bedtime story? With the rise of audio and video recording apps, we can now record ourselves reading our grandkids’ favorite stories and send them over to them. They can listen to the stories whenever they want and feel like we’re right there with them. Plus, we can show off our storytelling skills!

Whether it’s knitting, cooking, or learning a new language, online classes allow us to bond with our grands over a shared interest. We can take classes together, learn new skills, and even share our progress with each other. Who knows, we might even become the next great knitting duo!

Thanks to the wonders of technology, we can now take virtual tours of museums, galleries, and even national parks from the comfort of our own home. This is a fun way to bond with our grandkids over our love of history, art, or nature. We can explore the world together without ever leaving our living rooms!

Whether creating a family photo album, making a scrapbook, or even writing a book together, collaborative projects are an amazing way to work with our grandchildren towards a common goal. We can use apps like Google Docs and Canva to work on projects together, even if we’re miles apart.
8. Virtual Movie Nights
Who says we have to be in the same room to enjoy a good movie together? With streaming services like Netflix and Disney+, we can now have virtual movie nights with our grandchildren. We can pick a movie, press play at the same time, and use video apps to chat and share our reactions in real-time. It’s almost like we’re sitting in the same room together!
9. Virtual Exercise Classes
Exercise is important for people of all ages, and it can be a great bonding tool when done with our grandkids too. Many gyms and fitness studios now offer virtual exercise classes that we can partake in together. We can pick a class that suits both our fitness levels and interests, and have fun working out!

Reading is a wonderful way to connect with our grandkids and share our love of literature. We can start an online book club where we pick a book to read together and then discuss it over FaceTime.
