We love to show our grandkids love, don’t we? And we do it in all sorts of ways—through hugs, treats, surprise visits, or just cheering them on a little louder than necessary. But let’s be honest—sometimes we might get a little carried away or pick the absolute wrong moment to express our enthusiasm. It won’t change anything, though. Grandparents will always be grandparents, and our love will always bubble over… even if it embarrasses them just a tiny bit.
Take today’s video for example—this one gave me such a giggle. A little boy is up to bat, playing baseball, all focused and serious like he’s in the World Series. Just as he’s about to swing, his grandpa yells from the sidelines, “Oh let ‘er rip, tater chip!” You can just feel the pride and excitement bursting out of him! But that little boy—without missing a beat—turns around and groans, “Come on, Grandpa!”
It’s such a sweet moment. A little bit cringey (for the boy), a little bit hilarious (for us), and a whole lot of love wrapped up in one innocent shout. Because that’s what we do. We cheer loudly, love boldly, and sometimes say things that make our grandkids roll their eyes. But deep down, they wouldn’t want it any other way.
