Do you remember the very first time someone ever proposed to you or asked you to be their girlfriend? How old were you? What was your response, and how did you feel about it all at the time? It’s funny how those childhood moments stay with us, even after all these years. Some proposals are sweet, some are awkward, and some—well, some end in pure childhood drama!

Today’s video brings back so many memories of the very first proposal I ever received when I was around six years old. It was innocent, adorable, and, at the time, completely unexpected!

In the video, a little boy, no older than six or seven, musters up the courage to walk up to a girl his age. But instead of asking her to be his girlfriend, he skips right past the dating stage and goes straight to the big question: “Will you marry me?”

With a carefully crafted paper heart in his little hands—probably made with all the love and determination a six-year-old can manage—he looks at his “chosen one,” hoping for the best. But instead of the dreamy “yes” he’s expecting, the girl wastes no time in rejecting him with a quick and firm “No!”

And just like that, his little heart shatters! His response? A mix of frustration and childhood indignation. He scowls, declares, “You’re mean!” and storms off, leaving the girl standing there, perhaps a little surprised at his reaction. But before he gets too far, she tries to call him back, maybe second-guessing her answer or just not wanting him to be upset.

It’s such a funny and relatable moment—one that reminds us all of the sweet, dramatic, and sometimes downright hilarious ways love and rejection play out, even at the youngest ages. Have you ever experienced a childhood “proposal” like this? Whether it was a playground confession, a handwritten love note, or a bold question asked over a juice box, those memories are priceless!
