Is there anything more wonderful than cuddling your grandchild in your favorite chair with a great book? As a grandma, this is one of my greatest joys, and I know I am not alone! If you have been around here for a while, you know that I am always looking for and/or sharing the best read-alouds for kids, which is how I ran across this great company with some of the sweetest and most innovative books I have ever seen.

Based in Los Angeles, Cali’s Books was founded by a lovely young lady named Cali, who, like us grandmas, believes in the power of storytelling and the magic of music. Her dream was to create interactive books that would spark curiosity and help little ones fall in love with reading, and let me tell you, she has done an outstanding job!
Featuring bright, colorful illustrations that draw the children’s attention, Cali’s Books are interactive, with each boasting sound buttons that can be pressed by even the most petite fingers. My grandbabies LOVE to press the buttons to hear delightful songs, sounds, and phrases corresponding to the story – I must say, I do, too!
Not only are the books fun to read and listen to, but I also love to watch them giggle as they listen to the sounds and sing along with the songs.
In terms of books, Cali’s has a little bit of everything, including:
- Sing-Along Books: Quite possibly our favorites, these books feature popular children’s songs, encouraging little ones to sing and dance along as they read. Whether you opt for their timeless nursery rhymes or choose one with more modern tunes, there is something for everyone in this collection.
- Bedtime Stories: The perfect way to wind down at the end of the day, these interactive sound books contain soothing stories and lullabies that help children (and grandmas!) relax and drift off to sleep.

I have purchased and recorded myself reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Ugly Duckling, and Hansel and Gretel, and I can attest to the quality of these hardbound books and the ease of recording/listening to the audio.
