Dear Grandchild,

My dear, how have you been? It feels like a lifetime since I last held you in my arms, but not a day goes by that you’re not in my thoughts and prayers. I hope this letter finds you well and thriving in your studies. I’m so proud of the journey you’re on, pursuing your dreams and working so hard to become the incredible person you’ve always been destined to be.

I remember when you were little, always tinkering with your toys and asking me a hundred questions about how things worked. Do you remember the time you decided you were going to “fix” the toaster? You took it apart piece by piece, and when I walked into the kitchen, there were screws and springs all over the table! I had to call Grandpa to put it back together, but you stood there with that little determined look on your face, telling me, “Grandma, I’m an engineer now!” Well, it seems you were right, weren’t you?

And oh, how could I ever forget the time you tried to build your own rocket in the backyard? You were so serious, and when you came inside with your face all covered in dirt, you told me, “It didn’t fly this time, but next time it will!” You were always so sure of yourself, even when things didn’t go as planned. That’s something I admire about you to this day.

Or that one summer when you insisted on wearing your superhero cape everywhere. I mean everywhere! You’d wear it to the store, to the park, and even when we went to church! You looked so adorable, and you truly believed you could fly. There was that one time at the grocery store when you climbed onto the shopping cart and yelled, “Watch me fly, Grandma!” Thankfully, I caught you just in time before your superhero dreams sent you straight into the cereal aisle!

Though we’re far apart, I want you to know that the distance doesn’t diminish my love for you. Every night, I sit by the window and look up at the stars, thinking of you. I imagine that somewhere under the same sky, you’re looking up too, and in that moment, we’re connected. It comforts me to know that no matter how far away you are, love knows no distance.

Now, before I go on, let me put on my grandma hat for a moment. You know me, I have to remind you to be careful. You’re in a new place, meeting all kinds of people. Just remember to keep your head on straight, stay focused, and avoid getting mixed up in anything you know isn’t good for you. Stay away from drugs, and be mindful of the company you keep, especially with certain women who might not have your best interests at heart. You’re a smart boy, and I know you’ll make good choices, but a little reminder from Grandma never hurts, right?

I hope you’re taking good care of yourself, eating well, and getting enough rest. I know how busy your studies must keep you, but please don’t forget to give yourself moments of rest and joy. Your health is just as important as your hard work. You’ve always been such a diligent soul, but remember, life is about balance too.

When you have a quiet moment, I’d love to hear all about your adventures, your studies, and the new things you’re learning. Even though I may not understand all the technical details, I’m eager to listen. You’ve always had a way of making things sound so exciting, no matter how complicated they seem.

I can’t wait for the day when I can wrap my arms around you again, but until then, know that I’m sending all my love and warm hugs your way through this letter.

With all my love (and a few giggles), Grandma
