The Weight She Thought She Couldn’t Lift

January 15, 2026

There was a woman named Rhea who often described herself with limitations.
“I’m not strong enough.”
“I’m not confident enough.”
“I’m just not that kind of person.”

She believed these things so deeply that she rarely questioned them.

One afternoon, Rhea volunteered at a community center, helping prepare for a charity event. When a heavy box needed moving, she instinctively stepped back. “I can’t lift that,” she said quickly, without even trying.

Someone else struggled with it, straining and wobbling. On impulse, Rhea stepped forward. “Let me help,” she said, surprising herself.

They lifted together at first, but soon, Rhea realized she was doing more than half the work. When the box was finally set down, she stared at her hands in disbelief.

I didn’t know I could do that.

The moment stayed with her.

Over the next few weeks, Rhea began noticing how often she underestimated herself, skipping opportunities before they even began, saying no before fear could be challenged.

So she tried something new.

She raised her hand.
She applied.
She spoke up.

Some things worked out. Some didn’t. But every attempt revealed something important: her limits weren’t as fixed as she’d believed.

One day, reflecting on her journey, Rhea smiled. The strength she’d been waiting for hadn’t suddenly appeared; it had been there all along, waiting for her permission to show up.

Because the greatest risk isn’t failing…
It’s never discovering what you’re capable of.

And the moment you stop underestimating yourself…
is the moment your life begins to expand. 💫
