There’s nothing like being a grandparent. And as we watch the grandkids grow, we get to bask in their accomplishments as proud as can be! It’s the most satisfying thing to see all of the hard work of raising them pay off, but as parents and grandparents, we can only lead them so far… These are their feats and triumphs!

So imagine the feeling in this grandfather’s heart to see that his granddaughter followed his life footsteps to become a Marine! In the video below, it all becomes official, and Grandpa has the honor of giving the first salute.

At a ceremony held at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia, retired Staff Sargent James Williams stands before second lieutenant Charlotte Williams with the family present…

They record the special achievement, and you can see Dad, Dave Williams, wipe away a tear in the background after the salute. I don’t know if you can put into words what this means to this family, but how amazing that a grandfather and granddaughter could share this moment together. <3
