There’s nothing more precious than grandchildren. So when you become a grandparent, meeting them for the very first time is one of the most exciting milestones! But things can happen to delay these first interactions, and some of them are more scary than others…

For parents Ines and Sandro Lavelle, their baby, Gianni, was born six weeks prematurely and was facing issues with his breathing and swallowing. So the newborn had to stay in the NICU for 50 days. It was a very anxious wait for Mom and Dad, but after a whole week with no bradycardia spells Gianni was finally allowed to go home!

Now, it was finally time for the grandparents on both sides to meet their grandchild for the first time! And the parents did this as a surprise by knocking at the door of each of their homes and leaving the boy right there on the doorsteps for them to find…

First up, it was Ines’ parents, Gianni and Marianna. (Gianni also got to learn here that the boy was named after him!) And then, it was time to surprise Sandro’s parents, Renato and Bernadina. Both of the reactions are so amazing to see, and you can tell that the long wait was so worth it for all of them!

Everyone is happy and healthy, and together, one big, loving family. See the heartwarming moments in the video below!
