Some things in life are just worth the wait. And when it comes to family, their health and wellbeing is at the top of the priority list! So as hard as it may be to put off meeting the newest member of the family, you just know it’s for the best and dream of the day that it’ll finally happen!
The man in the video below, 53-year-old Mike Priebe, recently became a grandfather but had to wait to meet his granddaughter. A combination of the coronavirus pandemic, cross-country separation, home moves, and military duties put 10 months between them. But then it finally happened…

Mike’s daughter, Haley McLelland, and her husband, Cameron, welcomed baby Riley into the world at a hospital in North Carolina. And because of Cameron’s military duties, the family then had to move to their current home in California.

The couple was itching to get back to Ohio where they both grew up as high school sweethearts and where Grandpa Mike still resides. So when they were finally given permission to travel, the family made the 2,000-mile trip for a surprise visit!
Haley worked with her grandmother and aunt to sneak around and place the baby on the porch in her carrier for Mike to stumble upon. And when Grandpa sees the child, the initial shock quickly fades away into tears of joy! :’-)
