My Letter To You, Grandma, As We Enter A New Year

December 24, 2023

Is it just me, or were we just ringing in 2023? (Now that I think about it, weren’t we also just ringing in 2000? And 1981?) Time flies when you are having fun, and that’s precisely what we are doing: having fun and enjoying life with our families.

As you may be doing, I am thinking back on this year and looking ahead to the next. While the future is never certain, I feel this year will be a good one – one where we don’t take the little things for granted, love more, and worry less.

To convey this, I wrote you a letter – one full of hopes for 2024. I hope you enjoy it and that you, too, are excited for a clean slate full of endless possibilities.

God bless you all and your families this New Year!

Here we are, my fellow Devoted Grandmas, on the cusp of a new year.

It's a fresh page, a new chapter, and every other cliche in the book. I'm brimming with optimism for what lies ahead, and I pray that you are, too. As I do this time every year, I have been pondering the past year, and I am filled with gratitude and a sense of wonder for our journey.

Isn't being a grandma the greatest gift one can receive?

To make 2024 even better than the others, I vow to embrace the notion of living fully, seizing the day with both hands and squeezing every drop of joy from it.

May I invite you to do the same?

Can we make 2024 a year where our laughter is a little louder, our smiles a little wider, and our hugs a little tighter? I propose that we make this a year of heartfelt connections, where we reach out to those we love, not just through calls or messages, but through meaningful conversations, and we truly listen and share.

What about exploring something new this year? Perhaps there's a hobby or an activity you've always wanted to try. I pray this is the year you dive into it. You have been holding off because you worry it is selfish to do, but imagine the stories you'll share with your grandkids, the lessons you'll learn, and the laughter you'll have along the way.

You cannot pour from an empty cup. May 2024 be the year it is filled.

This year, let's also promise to find beauty in the everyday. The way the morning light filters through the window, the sound of our grandkids' giggles, and the taste of a perfectly brewed cup of coffee are simple pleasures that make life sweet. Savor them.

As we enter this New Year, let's hold onto hope, faith, and the belief that the best is yet to come. This year, let us also fully embrace our role as grandmas, as we are the keepers of stories, the weavers of family history, and the nurturers of the next generation.

We have a whole year of possibilities ahead of us - what a gift it is!

Here's to a splendid 2024, my fellow grandmas. Let's make it a year to remember, filled with everything that brings us happiness and fulfillment. This is my prayer for you.

With sincere fondness,

Devoted Grandma

Happy New Year, my friends. Let’s stay in touch – I can’t wait to hear how your 2024 goes. That said, let’s talk again soon. 🙂
