When I think back on my life, I can think of many instances where I wasted my time or did something I wish I could do over or take back. (Does anyone else remember the 1970s? Hehe.) I often remind myself that these instances led to where I am now, but there are still many things that I wished for and/or wasted away.
Being a grandma has never been one of these times.
Any moment spent with my grandchildren is the most precious of my life, which I know you, my fellow Devoted Grandmas, can relate to. To convey just how important our grandkids are to us and how every moment spent with them is better than the last, I sat down to pen this letter that I hope they someday read:
To my dearest and most precious grandchild, I'm sitting here, reminiscing about the rollercoaster of life and all its twists and turns. Life has been quite a journey with its fair share of ups and downs, but amidst all that, there's one thing that stands out like a beacon of pure joy - being your grandma. Every moment spent with you, my beloved grandchild, is a moment I treasure deeply. Your laughter, oh, how it rings through the house, more delightful than any melody I've ever heard. It takes me back, makes me feel young again, and fills every nook and cranny of my heart with happiness. It's the kind of sound that can turn any ordinary day into an extraordinary one. Only YOU have that incredible superpower. And your endless curiosity! Watching you explore the world with those bright, inquisitive eyes reminds me of the countless wonders out there, just waiting to be discovered. It's like reliving the best parts of my childhood through a fresh, new lens. But what really gets me is your kindness and love. The little things you do, like that adorable drawing you made for me last week or the way you insist on helping me in the kitchen (even if we end up with more flour on the floor than in the bowl!), these moments are etched in my heart forever. Seeing you grow, learn, and navigate your way through life is a joy that I wish I could bottle up and share with the world. Every milestone, every little achievement, and yes, even the challenges, are chapters I cherish deeply, as they remind me of life's journey and how beautiful it is to witness yours. In a way, spending time with you is like living my best life all over again. It's like God is giving me a second chance to soak in all the wonders of life, but this time, through your eyes. So, to you, my dear grandchild, I say this: every second with you is a gift, with each moment more precious than the last. You've brought so much joy, love, and laughter into my world, and for that, I am eternally grateful. Here's to many more memories, laughs, and endless adventures together.
