Officers put their lives on the line every day in order to serve and protect their communities, and we’re very thankful for that. But let’s not forget their parters-in-crime who are constantly on the frontlines as the best battle buddies and companions!

In the video below, we have Senior Special Agent Bryan Schaffer and his K-9 partner, Faust. And today is a special day, because it’s the dog’s last day on the job. After eight years and one day on the force, the good boy is set to retire. And as customary, a final call is placed with dispatch to honor his career and pay respects. <3

Schaffer wrote, “Faust, thank you for all the good you have done for BNSF and other agencies – but mostly I thank you for getting us both home safe after every shift.”

It’s as if Faust knows exactly what’s going on as he whimpers and gets face-to-face with his handler for sweet kisses. Wow! It may seem sad, but it’s just the beginning of a brand new life for the dog; The award-winning K-9 is off to live the life of a pet in retirement with Officer Schaffer after years of being on duty certified in Explosives Detection and Patrol. Here’s to all the best for Faust—He deserves nothing but the best! 🙂
