These Grandchild-Approved Pumpkin Treats Are So Darn Gourd

Fall is in the air, and if you are anything like me, you love every second of it! If you are also like me, you live for pumpkin-flavored everything. While pumpkin-flavored coffee is off limits for most kids, you can still share the deliciousness of pumpkin with your grandkids by making one (or all!) of these five delicious recipes that are so darn gourd! (Do you see what I did there? Hehe.)

1. Pumpkin pie parfaits

Dive into layers of creamy pumpkin, whipped cream, and crushed graham crackers for a deconstructed version of the classic pie.


  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice
  • Whipped cream
  • Graham crackers, crushed
  • Optional: a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg for garnish


  1. In a mixing bowl, combine pumpkin puree, vanilla yogurt, and pumpkin spice.
  2. Layer a spoonful of the pumpkin mixture at the bottom of a glass.

  • 1 banana
  • 1 1/2 cups almond milk (or any milk of choice)
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice
  • 1 tablespoon honey


  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

5. Pumpkin Rice Krispy treats

Give the traditional Rice Krispie treat a festive twist with a hint of pumpkin flavor and cute pumpkin shapes.


  • 6 cups Rice Krispie cereal
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 bag of marshmallows (10 oz.)
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice
