Making These Homemade Bath Bombs With Your Grandkids Will Make A Huge Splash

August 8, 2023

What do a child’s and an adult’s bath times have in common? While one is fun (kids) and one is generally more relaxing (adults), they are both made even better with a colorful bath bomb!

Whether you or your grandchild prefer glitter, fragrance, or the moisturizing benefits of certain bombs, you can create your own free of ingredients you don’t want.

Are you and your grands ready to create your own one-of-a-kind bath bomb? Here are a few different recipes to make your own DIY bath bombs:

1. Standard bath bomb

Materials needed:

Instructions:

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salts, and cornstarch. Stir them together until they are thoroughly mixed.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the coconut oil, water, essential oils, and food coloring (if using). Stir them together until they are thoroughly mixed.
  3. Combine the Mixtures: Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing constantly. This part is crucial – you don’t want the mixture to fizz. You want the consistency of slightly wet sand that will hold its shape when pressed together.
  4. Fill Your Molds: Once your mixture is the right consistency, press it into your silicone mold or plastic Easter egg. Make sure it’s packed in tightly.
  5. Let Them Dry: Leave your filled molds to dry for at least 24 hours. You want them to be completely hard before you try to remove them from the molds.
  6. Use Your Bath Bombs: After they’ve completely dried, gently remove your bath bombs from the molds. They’re now ready to use! Drop one into a bath and watch it fizz.

2. Lavender bath bombs

Ingredients:

Instructions: Follow the same process as described in the previous post, adding lavender flowers to the mold before packing in the bath bomb mixture for an extra touch of lavender.

3. Lemon and eucalyptus bath bomb

Ingredients:

Instructions: Follow the same process, combining both essential oils in the wet mixture for a refreshing, invigorating scent.

4. Rose pedal bath bombs

Ingredients:

Instructions: Follow the same process, adding rose petals to the mold before the bath bomb mixture for a romantic, luxurious bath experience.

5. Chamomile bath bombs

Ingredients:

Instructions: Follow the same process, adding chamomile flowers to the mold before the bath bomb mixture for a soothing, calming bath experience.

Conclusion

As a fair warning, homemade bath bombs can get a little messy, but they are tons of fun! (Just go into it with the knowledge there may be some cleanup involved, hehe.) Enjoy your one-on-one time and your fun new bath bombs!
