Maybe that’s a little dramatic, but who doesn’t like creating something unique not only to eat but to bond with the grandkids?

As always, be sure to consult with your grandchild’s parents to make sure this is okay! I’m not looking to get any of you launched to outer space in a fit of rage. 🙂

Ingredients:

  • 1 liter vanilla ice cream
  • 1 liter chocolate ice cream
  • 2 cups mixed fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, or pecans)
  • 3 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 cup freeze-dried fruit (e.g., strawberries, raspberries, or mango)
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • Edible gold and silver stars or edible glitter (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Remove the vanilla and chocolate ice cream from the freezer and let it soften for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, create four large mounds of vanilla ice cream on a serving tray or platter, leaving enough space between them for the “volcanic” effect.
  3. Create a small indentation or crater in the center of each vanilla ice cream mound.
  4. Scoop four smaller mounds of chocolate ice cream and place them into the indentations of the vanilla ice cream mounds, creating a “volcanic” appearance.
  5. Decorate the base of each ice cream volcano with mixed fresh berries, chopped nuts, and sliced bananas.
  6. Crush the freeze-dried fruit into small pieces and sprinkle it over the ice cream volcanoes, mimicking an eruption of fruity lava.
  7. Prepare the chocolate lava sauce by whisking together the cocoa powder, honey, and hot water in a small bowl until smooth and glossy.
  8. Drizzle the chocolate lava sauce over the ice cream volcanoes, allowing it to flow down the sides.
  9. Generously dollop whipped cream around the base of each volcano to create a cloud-like effect.
  10. To add a final touch of galactic magic, sprinkle edible gold and silver stars or edible glitter over the entire dessert.

Serve the Galactic Ice Cream Sundae Volcanoes immediately and enjoy the out-of-this-world dessert experience with your grandkids.
