There was a young man named Nathan who dreamed of living a bigger life.

He had ideas he wanted to pursue.

Places he wanted to visit.

Goals he longed to achieve.

But every time an opportunity appeared, fear would whisper the same words.

“What if it doesn’t work?”

So Nathan stayed where he was.

Safe.

Comfortable.

Predictable.

He watched other people apply for jobs they weren’t fully qualified for.

He watched friends move to new cities.

He watched classmates start businesses and chase dreams.

Some succeeded.

Some failed.

But all of them seemed to be moving forward.

Meanwhile, Nathan remained exactly where he had always been.

One afternoon, while hiking in the mountains, he reached a narrow wooden bridge stretching across a rushing river.

It looked sturdy enough, but it swayed gently in the breeze.

Several hikers confidently crossed it.

Nathan stopped.

“What if it isn’t safe?” he wondered.

So he waited.

Ten minutes passed.

Then twenty.

An older woman eventually walked up behind him.

“Aren’t you crossing?” she asked kindly.

“I’m not sure,” Nathan admitted.

She smiled.

“Neither was I the first time.”

She stepped onto the bridge and looked back.

“Come with me.”

Slowly, Nathan took his first step.

The bridge moved slightly beneath his feet.

His heart raced.

But with each step, his confidence grew.

Before long, he reached the other side.

The view waiting for him was breathtaking.

Rolling hills stretched for miles.

Wildflowers covered the valley below.

It was the most beautiful place he had seen all day.

The older woman smiled.

“Imagine if you’d stayed on the other side because you were afraid of crossing.”

Nathan laughed.

“I almost did.”

That evening, he realized something.

The bridge wasn’t just a bridge.

It was every opportunity he had been too afraid to pursue.

Every conversation he never started.

Every dream he kept postponing.

Every chance he let pass because there was no guarantee of success.

The next few years looked very different.

Nathan still felt fear.

But he stopped waiting for fear to disappear before taking action.

He applied for the job.

He started the business.

He introduced himself to new people.

He said yes to opportunities that once intimidated him.

Not every risk worked out.

Some plans failed.

Some dreams changed.

But every chance he took taught him something valuable.

And every step forward gave him confidence for the next one.

Years later, when people admired all he had accomplished, Nathan smiled.

They saw the victories.

They didn’t see the bridges he had almost refused to cross.

Because courage isn’t the absence of fear.

It’s deciding that the possibility of a better life is worth taking one more step.

After all, you’ll never know what beautiful view is waiting for you…

If you spend your whole life standing safely on the same side of the bridge. 💛
